book club

So the gals from homeschool park day have decided we need some mommy time so we started a book club. Last month we read a book called three cups of tea. Very good book maybe a little political for such a diverse group but all the same very good. They went a whole different way to a book called The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I am about half way through and it is very good I have to control my self not to get carried away. I don't want reading to interfere with the other things we are doing. I love to read but it seams of late(last 16 years) it has only been children's books or books about medical or educational subjects. Our group is about 7-10 ladies some very avid readers some writers I feel a little lost but is nice to have all of these great book recommendations. and one of the gals even works a Barnes and nobles. I am up for all different genres and said pick a book and tell me and I will read it. I wouldn't even know where to start on my own.

here are a couple more titles I would like to read one is about Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter this man is amazing and caught my kid attention. I still remember the day he passed away and how I had to think and pray about how to Justin about his death. It was a very hard day and yes we did not personally know him but he had such a love for animals and life and just amazing energy. The other book is Sugar queen wich the girls from book club recommended.

Now this was a costco find it is so cool it is like a devotional but about history each day is just one short page. quick and to the point and then some real cool little facts.
This one is American History and they had another that was general history I didn't get it but I am dying to get back to get it.
each day is a different subject
Monday: politics & leadership
Tuesday: war & peace
Wednesday: rights & reform
Thursday: Business
Friday: Building America
Saturday: literature
Sunday: arts
it is really cool
Did you know during King Philip's war the city of Boston passed a law forbidding Indians from entering the city. Although the rule had not been enforced for centuries, it remained on the books until its repeal in 2005. You read that right 2005
the book is filled with great little tid bits that make really cool conversation.

Good job getting into a book club I am so proud of you. I have also read the 3 cups of tea-I did pretty good until the end and had a hard time finishing it. If you guys ever need some ideas I might have a few. I also love to read books that I myself would have never picked up. It is fun. We are actually going back on a few classics from Jane Austin this summer. But we have had some GOOD ones and some DUMB ones.
