The Petrified Forest

While on Vacation you must do lots of stuff.  This was a pretty exciting place.

Grandpa and Cody walking along the clam fossil beds.

We Just happen to go to the petrified Forest on National Fossil Day.   We were able to go on a 1 mile hike that is not a normal area you would get to go in but because it was Fossil day we got a guided tour.

Cathy was in Rock heaven.  We kept her in control and did not have to pay the $325.00 fine for taking anything from the National Park.

Thee boys we great little tourist.

My Boys

while we were looking at petroglyphs  we notice our awesome shadows.  so lets see from sect to right I think it is Craig, Cathy, Lisa ,   Cody ,Myself, Buck and Justin

Some petroglyphs on Newspaper rock.  This was really neat area who knows what they all meant but hey there were tons of them on these rocks.
Then we moved North to the  painted Desert.  You can see why.

It has it's own sort of beauty

This was a really fun day with lots of short hikes and stops .  If you are ever in North East Arizona make sure you at least drive thru the Petrified Forest
