Kid's Book Club Kick Off

I had a great ida for a kids Book club so Today was our first meeting. This was our kick off and each kid came with their favorite book of the summer. We started our time off by making book marks.
I think this is when they were playing Cody's game. Instead of writing a book report the idea is to use what ever you want to tell us about your book. Today Justin dressed up as a ranger, Cody dressed as a character from 39 clues. we had some dressed as a character from Harry Potter and someone from Charlie bones. Cody set up a clue hunt for his book. Justin showed his ranger gear and how it is used. We had someone who recreated her book covers on dioramas and did a photo shoot. she also brought what the animals in her books and then a granola for a snack. The boys showed off their bard they made at the end of last year.
They idea is do what you want to show us about your book. And we had fun with it.

Justin showing his gear.
So for next month we will do a theme( since we are homeschoolers we are all at different levels and not very grade specific) next month will be KID POWER something where a kid stands up for something, saves something or changes something. what ever you want. it will be fun to see what books we will see.
some future themes
California
middle ages
travel
sports
space
wild life
America
mystery
immigration
pets
survival
any more ideas are welcome
these can be fiction or non-fiction

That is awesome and very creative-I knew you had that in ya. I am sure the boys loved dressing up and telling all about their books.
